CLC 's book clubs encourage children to think creatively and to share their insights and ideas with peers. During the process, they are encouraged to read more books and ultimately discover the joy of reading. The increased vocabulary and comprehension they gain is accomplished in a fun-filled, painless way that helps them prepare for high school and beyond.

CLC 's accomplishes its goal by:

• Offering a welcome setting that encourages student participation
• Introducing and improving students skills through writings, graphic organizers, Group discussions and visuals
• Encouraging students to make predications through foreshadowing techniques
• Fostering Vocabulary enrichment
• Engaging students in discussions of award winning teenage -approved classics
• Using a designed curriculum to develop confident independent readers who can recall information
• Connecting reading to the lives of middle school students
• Strengthening decoding and comprehension strategies to enable students to achieve a complete understanding of each work
